MONECO PHILOSOPHY
Eco-responsibility is a duty, a commitment to which everyone is bound in order to safeguard and respect the environment.
Every year it is estimated that between 4 and 12 million tonnes of plastic bottles and products end up in the sea, damaging the ecosystem and representing one of the main causes of death by suffocation for many fish and sea birds.
We must not forget, dazzled by the splendor and focused on our work, to look out from the broadside:
We cannot forget to look at the sea. We cannot forget to look beyond.
The new XYACHT pilot project was born following this philosophy and with the determination of those who want to do more for the Planet that hosts us.
XYACHT MONECO is the result of a selection that our experts make every year studying the latest technologies in eco-sustainability, with the aim of replacing all common products with planet-friendly ones.
XYACHT MONECO selection includes fabrics realised using recycled plastic collected on ocean shores and beaches during operations to protect and preserve the seas.
XYACHT MONECO towels
Towels are made from recycled PET bottles.
In each one there are about 20 plastic bottles!
The PET bottles are collected on beaches or on ocean’s rivers.
After shredding, they are made even finer into small pallets from which very fine yarns can be melted.
With these fine yarns, they can weave incredibly soft and innovative fabric.
The towels are quick-dry, lightweight, compact an can absorb their weight in moisture. In addition, the anti-bacterial material prevents them from getting 'smelly' unlike cotton towels if they remain moist.

One million plastic bottles are purchased every minute worldwide and by 2021 this figure is expected to increase by 20%.
A plastic bottle can take up to 1,000 years to degrade, but because it is not biodegradable, the small pieces of plastic (i.e. microplastics) will remain in our environment forever.
